After Ramaphosa’s Pala Pala press conference backfired, a motion of no confidence is inevitable. The obvious move is for the DA to vote him out. But here’s the argument: if the DA helps remove him, the ANC’s succession war kicks off — and the alternatives are worse.

So I lay out a cold political deal: the DA votes to save Cyril — but only in exchange for taking control of the economic cluster (Deputy President + Finance + Trade & Industry). Because if Mashatile takes over, you’re looking at a turbo-charged “state capture” coalition with MK/EFF. If Mbalula takes over, you get a weakened GNU designed to kick the DA out anyway.
